PREPARING FOR YOUR PHOTOSHOOT
I am thrilled to work with you, and want to make sure that you are excited about your photos and have a great experience in the process. Whether you are here for professional headshots or portraiture, I will assist you in styling your shoot, from choosing the best location and setting to wardrobe, hair, and makeup. My goal is to create a unique portrait that highlights your personality and style. If you are here for headshots, we want to make sure that you look approachable and represent your brand and profession in the most positive way.
When choosing your wardrobe, you don't always need to buy something new (even though that's part of the fun, right?). Choose something that makes you feel confident, and good about yourself. Stay away from busy patterns, large logos and loud colors in shirts, unless it is paired with a solid jacket and slacks. Ladies, pairing some "funky" heels with a solid dress or suit is a great way to add some personality. Men, try some "fun" socks or cufflinks! Choose colors that compliment your skin tone. Your makeup shouldn't be over the top, but should be slightly heavier than your everyday look. Mascara, blush, lipstick, and blotting papers or powder are your friends! Don't go heavy on your undereye makeup. This makes dark circles or puffiness really stand out, and you want to look bright!
Here are a few Do's and Dont's for the day before your photoshoot:
Do . . .
Take care of your nails. If they are in the shot, you want to make sure that they are clean and well manicured.
Eat healthy, and drink plenty of water. It's important to stay hydrated so that your skin looks amazing!
Get a good night's sleep. Stay in!
Know the location of your photoshoot and how to get there on time
Discuss any last minute details with me
Don't . . .
Don't get a new haircut or hairstyle just before your photoshoot. If you don't absolutely love it, you will be uncomfortable and self conscious instead of confident and in charge!
Don't eat a big meal before your shoot, but don't skip your meal either! Eat a light meal before leaving, and bring a few snacks with you in case you need a little pick-me-up.
Don't dry shave in the car on the way to your photoshoot, guys. Yes, it has happened. Shave the night before if possible to eliminate any redness or burn the morning of.
